How Statutory Redundancy Is Calculated

Statutory redundancy pay is based on your age, length of service, and weekly pay (capped at £643 for 2025/26). You must have worked for your employer for at least 2 years to qualify.

For each complete year of service (up to a maximum of 20 years), you receive:

  • 0.5 weeks' pay for each year you were under 22
  • 1 week's pay for each year you were 22 to 40
  • 1.5 weeks' pay for each year you were 41 or over

Your employer must also give you a statutory notice period of 1 week per year of service, up to a maximum of 12 weeks.

Based on statutory redundancy rates for 2025/26. See gov.uk for full details.
